Seldom has one person meant so many different things to so many generations:

To Boomers: John Madden was the arm flailing larger than life coach of the evil but Super Bowl winning Oakland Raiders. NFL teams unfortunate enough to draw them on their Sunday schedule could more than likely look forward an L. in the Win- Loss column in addition to not being in any physical shape to do any partying after the game.

Madden never had a losing season as the head coach of the Raiders.

To Gen Xers and Millennials: Still arm flailing and larger than life he was now known as tevevision personality. Madden morphed into an Emmy Award winning NFL main color commentator on the all four major networks.

Wham! Doink! Whoosh!

To Gen Z: The video game “Madden NFL,” arguably the world’s most popular video game.
