I was much younger when I heard the interview and read the book. I liked the concept that Jane realized she craved the human touch as a senior and was proactive in making it happen. It wasn't the emotion that she thought she craved, it was physical. Different.

Maybe she thought the emotional would follow--like a man thinks.
