A Budding Scientist
We found these attractive brightly colored strips of paper on the kitchen table
The Random Drabble Word Challenge today ‘scientist’
When we were young, about 6 or seven years old, my cousin Kit and I would go over to Bobby’s house next door. We were warned by his parents to not go near his dad’s garden.
When we asked Bobby’s mom what those brightly colored pieces of paper on the kitchen table she answered:
“Those strips are called litmus paper. Bobby’s dad uses them to measure whether the soil is acedic or alkaline to know what vegetables to grow.”
When Bobby’s mother left the room, he tore off a small strip of blue paper and put it in the toilet. He peed on it and it turned pink.
How satisfying!
We ran next door to get Kit’s little brother Ricky who was in second grade. Bobby told him to drink a big glass of orange juice.
Ricky’s paper turned bright red.
Darn, that Bobby is going to be a ‘scientist’ one of these years.
